Oral Sedation

What is oral sedation?

Sedation dentistry uses different sedative medications and methods to help our patients relax during dental treatments. If a patient is nervous about a procedure, Dr. Dennis Sacry may recommend oral sedation in Whitehall, Montana. Our dentist will have you take a pill about an hour before the procedure; the pill is usually Halcion. Depending on the dosage given, oral sedation can cause minimal to moderate sedation. With minimal sedation, you are awake but comfortable and relaxed. Moderate sedation may cause you to slur your words, and you likely will not remember much of the dental treatment. The pill will make you drowsy and some patients actually fall asleep during treatment. If so, you can be awakened with a light shake. You can rest assured that oral sedation is safe, and our team will ensure your comfort throughout your visit.

  • Feel nervous or anxious leading up to the procedure
  • Wish to avoid any discomfort during the procedure
  • Smooth out bumps, dips, and other imperfections on the tooth surface
